Blue Frog Scientific is delighted to announce that Dr Kai Paul has been appointed Honorary Associate Professor in the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University.
The honorary title, conferred from 1 August 2026 until 31 July 2029, recognises Kai’s continuing contribution to the University’s academic community, while also reflecting his established expertise and reputation at the interface of science, regulation and industry. The Appointment provides an opportunity to further strengthen the relationship between his scientific and regulatory work and the University's teaching, research and knowledge-exchange activities.
Heriot-Watt University describes its honorary titles as prestigious awards intended to convey a sense of admission to, or continuity within, the University's academic community. The University has also highlighted the pleasure of continuing to have Kai associated with its work.
From Alumnus to Academic Collaborator
Kai's connection with Heriot-Watt goes back many years to 2011, where he studied his PhD. As a Heriot-Watt alumnus, he has maintained a close relationship with the University and has subsequently contributed to its teaching, including lecturing on the Toxicology Master's programme.
His appointment as Honorary Associate Professor provides a natural next step in that relationship, bringing together his academic background with many years of experience working at the interface of science, regulation and industry.
“I am deeply honoured to be appointed Honorary Associate Professor at Heriot-Watt University. Having studied at Heriot-Watt and subsequently had the opportunity to contribute to its teaching, it is particularly meaningful to have this relationship formally recognised and strengthened.
My work has increasingly focused on the interface between science, innovation and regulation, something at the core of Blue Frog and Heriot-Watt, making it such a fantastic fit. I look forward to bringing this experience back into the University's academic community and contributing to the next generation of scientists and professionals.”
