Martyn is a Principal Regulatory Consultant at Blue Frog Scientific, specialising in EU and UK chemical regulations, including REACH, POPs, the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), and the evolving PFAS regulatory landscape. He leads and delivers projects across these areas, supporting clients in navigating complex and rapidly developing regulatory requirements. His work includes advising stakeholders on EU and UK PFAS and REACH developments, preparing and updating technical dossiers, and supporting strategic planning to help organisations both comply with and influence regulatory change.

He has contributed extensively to EU and UK PFAS consultations and previously served on the CEN committee responsible for developing PFAS testing standards for textiles (EN 17681-1/2:2022, now superseded). Martyn has also chaired the FluoroMonomers REACH Consortium and has significant experience in PFAS analysis and mass balance assessments. He advocates for the responsible use of PFAS in critical applications where they remain the best technical solution and is a regular speaker at industry conferences and events.

Earlier in his career, Martyn managed multiple Only Representative (OR) registrations under EU REACH and led substance grandfathering activities following Brexit to ensure compliance with UK REACH. He has also overseen product compliance for hundreds of products across the UK and EU, including responsibility for Safety Data Sheets and regulatory compliance across frameworks such as REACH, POPs, SVHC, food contact regulations, TSCA, Proposition 65 and GADSL.

Martyn is a recognised expert in fluoropolymer process safety. As former Chair of the PlasticsEurope TFE Safety Task Force, he continues to support the industry and has co-authored the second edition of the TFE Safety Handbook, along with multiple peer-reviewed publications on TFE safety.

Martyn is a member of the UK Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) National Authority, where he provides industry expertise through the preparation of CWC declarations and participation in OPCW compliance audits.

He holds a degree and D.Phil. in Chemistry from the University of York, specialising in polymers and analytical chemistry. Following a postdoctoral position at the University of Surrey, he joined AGC Chemicals Europe Ltd., a leading fluoropolymer manufacturer, where he held research, process safety, and product stewardship roles for over 20 years.
