Dr Kai Benjamin Paul will be speaking at the upcoming Grouping & Read-Across of Advanced (Nano)Materials Workshop on 4 May 2026 (11:00–12:30 CET).
This virtual event, organised through the EU-funded ACCORDS and iCARE projects, will bring together experts to explore how grouping and read-across approaches can support regulatory compliance for graphene, 2D materials, and other advanced nanomaterials.
Kai will open the session with an introduction to the ECHA-funded work supporting a framework for identifying single nanoforms – a strategically important topic for companies navigating the evolving European regulatory landscape. Kai is widely recognised for his expertise in nanomaterials and EU chemicals regulation and future-focused regulatory solutions, holding position as vice-chair at the NIA’s regulatory committee and being an associate editor for the Nanotoxicology Journal. Kai has worked directly with EU and UK regulators and industry on nanoform regulatory matters.
His invitation to speak reflects both his technical authority and his continued engagement in leading regulatory discussions involving ECHA, industry and international stakeholders.
The workshop will also cover:
- Linking biological effects with physicochemical characteristics of graphene-based materials.
- Grouping approaches for neurotoxicity-related endpoints.
- Practical challenges and opportunities for implementation.
- Next steps for regulatory application.
This session will be highly relevant for regulators, industry, CROs, researchers, and organisations working with advanced materials across Europe and beyond.
